Mortgage Protection Insurance

Mortgage protection insurance is a simple life insurance policy designed to help your family pay off or keep up with your home loan if something happens to you. If you pass away, become seriously ill, or are unable to work, the policy provides a benefit your loved ones can use to cover the mortgage so they can stay in the home you worked hard to provide.

What It Covers

Mortgage protection helps cover your monthly mortgage payments or pays off the remaining balance of your home loan in the event of death, terminal illness, or, with certain plans, disability or job loss. The benefit goes to your family so they can keep the home without falling behind.

What It Cost

Premiums vary based on your age, health, coverage amount, and the length of your mortgage. Many homeowners qualify for plans starting at around $25 to $80 per month. Rates are locked in, and most plans require no medical exam to apply.

California Privacy Rights

This section provides additional information for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA").

Categories of personal information we collect

In the past twelve (12) months, we have collected the following categories of personal information about California residents:

  • Identifiers, such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number, IP address, and other similar identifiers;

  • Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)), such as name, address, and telephone number;

  • Protected classification characteristics, such as age and date of birth;

  • Commercial information, such as records of products or services you have requested information about;

  • Internet or other similar network activity information, such as browsing information and interactions with our website; and

  • Geolocation data, derived from IP address.

We do not knowingly collect or process "sensitive personal information" as defined under the CCPA for purposes of inferring characteristics about you.

Sources of personal information

We collect personal information directly from you when you submit our form or otherwise contact us, automatically from your device when you use the website, and from our service providers and Marketing Partners.

Business and commercial purposes for collection and disclosure

We collect and disclose personal information for the business and commercial purposes described in the "How We Use Your Information" and "How We Share Your Information" sections above, including providing our services, connecting you with Marketing Partners, marketing and advertising, maintaining and securing the website, and meeting legal obligations.

Categories of recipients

We disclose personal information to Marketing Partners (licensed insurance agents, agencies, brokers, and carriers), service providers, professional advisors, government authorities when required, and parties to corporate transactions, as described above.

Sale or sharing of personal information

The CCPA defines "sale" and "sharing" broadly. The disclosure of your contact information to one or more Marketing Partners so they can contact you about mortgage protection insurance may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law, even though we do not receive monetary payment for the disclosure. California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. To exercise this right, see the "How to Exercise Your California Rights" section below or use any "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link we make available on the website.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Your California rights

Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and sold or shared about them, including the categories and specific pieces of personal information;

  • Delete personal information we have collected from them;

  • Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about them;

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information;

  • Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (to the extent we ever process such information for purposes that would be subject to this right); and

  • Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different level or quality of services because you exercised your CCPA rights.

How to exercise your California rights

To exercise your right to know, delete, correct, or opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, please email us at [email protected] with the subject line "California Privacy Request" and describe the right you are exercising. We will need to verify your identity before responding to your request, which may involve asking you to confirm information we already have on file. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, in which case we will require written proof of the agent's authority and may still verify your identity directly.

We will respond to verifiable consumer requests as required by the CCPA, generally within 45 days of receipt, with the possibility of an additional 45-day extension if reasonably necessary and we provide notice of the extension.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about our disclosures of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please contact us at the email address above.
